While it’s a simple animation and timed well with the real world in a comedic way, it shows the potential for use in real-world VFX creation too.
For super cheap video productions the animations will be able to be played out on location (just like this example) which avoids the costly post-production cycles of traditional VFX.
The main drawback at the moment is the quality of live rendered animations at the moment. So many productions will still go and do a proper post-production workflow and render to include refraction, reflection, smoke, and all the other nuanced elements that make VFX believable.
Still, for the bigger budgets, the opportunity to see a live wireframe monster on set will significantly help the human/nothing acting relationship that often looks cardboard-like. Either way, I think it’s going to be an excellent tool for cheap and loaded directors alike.
